Hi, I'm Genevieve

I am a heavily convicted Person-Centered and Cognitive Behavioral therapist who prioritizes therapeutic rapport to foster a consistently safe environment for genuine exploration and expression of self. I wholeheartedly believe the process of therapy can change your life by first helping you feel understood and accepted, and second by learning (and sometimes unlearning) what is necessary to feel more aligned with your ideal sense of self and vision for your life.

I am bilingual (Filipino/Tagalog and English). I am the first and only person in my family to pursue a career in mental health. I made it my mission to challenge the stigmas that exist within Asian families and communities as a whole. I recognize that certain pressures and narratives can harshly impact our identity, functionality, and beliefs on life.

I am proud to come from a military background, both as a military-dependent throughout childhood and as a Military & Family Life Counselor on bases and installations in the DC, Maryland and Virginia area.

My practice is founded on my core belief that all people possess an inherent resilient human spirit. Life's challenges can certainly compile and weigh on our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through a strong therapeutic rapport and alliance, we can feel more seen, supported, understood, and encouraged to continue to bravely face life's challenges and thrive. To thrive is to live a fruitful, meaningful life according to YOU.

What my clients can rest assured in is that I will always present myself and guide them with authenticity.

Special Shoutouts

Dr. Delishia Pittman and Dr. Olivia Bentley for educating and supervising me at the very beginning of my counseling career.

Lauren Farago, LCPC for believing in me and giving me my first opportunity and glimpse into group private practice.

Dr. Michelle Pereira and Martina Alvarado, LCPC for sharing with me a deep passion for this field and modeling to me integrity and empathy when providing care and supervising others.

Kiara Hartwell Opara, LCPC, LPC for supervising me when I was an LGPC and continuing to selflessly support me throughout every pivotal moment in my career.

Dr. Monchaya Jetabut, EdD for being my first exposure to a caring, non-judgmental counselor back when I needed it most in high school.

Dr. Daniel Rodriguez for reminding me always through words and deeds that the one life I have is meant to be spent serving others.

These remarkable individuals, in addition to my loving friends and family, have contributed to my growth and resilience. Thank you.
